Love Yourself on Valentine’s day

Valentine’s day is not only about couples, lovers and receiving love messages from your loved one. But it is a great opportunity to be kind, loving and encouraging to yourself. 

 

We all have this inner self-critic voice which belittle ourselves on many different levels from: “I am not good enough,” “I am not beautiful,” “I am too fat,” “I am not intelligent enough,” “I can’t do this,” “No one loves me,” etc. We would never speak to a friend the way we speak to ourselves so why do we do it?

 

It is time to silence that inner critic and appreciate all the good qualities. Here are a few ways to cultivate self-love back into your life:

 

“You are what you think” so why not start your day by writing 4 positive affirmations about yourself. Affirmations helps us believe in the potential of an action we want to manifest. When we give ourself affirmation about an ambition, a goal or a dream, we actually rewire our brain and empower ourself with the feel-good hormone and awaken our inner unlimited power. 

 

 

 

So today on Valentine’s day write down 4 affirmations about yourself: 

  1. I am good enough. 

  2. I radiate beauty, charm and grace.

  3. I am superior to negative thoughts and bad actions.

  4. I can conquer all my challenges; my power in unlimited.

 

 

2.  Take yourself out for a date: 

 It is a great day to treat yourself for something which you truly enjoy, whether it is a massage, a yoga class, a dance class or a cooking class. Choose one thing you always wanted to do and do it. You deserve this treat.

 

3. Do a 10 minutes self-compassion meditation:

Meditation has a very powerful impact on our potential, and helps us create self-love we all need in this world. Sit comfortably in cross-legged position and close your eyes. Take a few deep cleansing breaths. Then think about what is really troubling you today, just the issue without the judgement. Identify your goal, and visualize yourself after you achieved your goals, look at yourself then and feel how you felt then. Offer yourself few loving words and such as:  “I can do it”, “I am capable”,” I am love”.

Take a few more breaths and then open your eyes and give yourself and hug.

 

4.  Write yourself a letter today

Take 10 minutes and write yourself a love letter. This has a very powerful impact on flipping your inner voice to a positive one.  Write all the qualities you like about yourself, encourage yourself, and be kind to yourself. 

This is really powerful as we always seek to receive a love letter from others and never looked at receiving a love letter from ourselves and treating ourselves with kindness as you would a loved one.
